A native Californian, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from San Diego State University, obtained my California Real Estate Broker’s License, and launched an investment real estate firm in San Diego. Pursuing my love of the industry, I became an adjunct instructor in real estate classes at community colleges and universities, earned a MBA in Real Estate from National University and a Doctor of Business Administration from United States International University. In this capacity, I created curricula and hired instructors and occasionally taught advanced real estate courses. Earning a Certified Commercial-Investment Member (CCIM) designation, the highest title available from the National Association of Realtors for those in the commercial and income property specialty, remains an honor.
As the president of corporations, I have overseen the construction of office buildings and developed land ranging from a single commercial building lot up to a 1,500-acre master planned community.
I take pride in following my father’s advice to “always go beyond that which is required”, and have taken it to heart throughout my career. A laser-like focus on the importance of thoughtful client counseling, investment property brokerage, and development, led me to form The Broadmoor Real Estate Group. We appreciate the reality that buying and selling real estate represents the largest financial transaction available to most investors and families alike, and appreciate the need for thorough property research and alternative strategy counseling. We represent and advocate for each client’s best interests throughout each step of the transaction process. Cultivating this vital role has resulted in lasting business and personal relationships, making this endeavor truly and continually rewarding.
‟In our upcoming move from Texas to California, I must say Ken, Carol, & Patti, of California Equestrian Properties, made the process much easier than expected! They explained the buying process clearly, ensured paperwork was correct, and negotiated effectively. Staff updated us regularly, and responded in a timely manner. Ken, Carol, & Patti exhibi … ted knowledge of the equestrian real estate market, the neighborhoods and communities. In addition, they understood our needs, gave us personal attention, and made us feel valued as clients. I would recommend California Equestrian Properties to a friend or colleague” Read More ▾
‟Ken and Carol represented us on two transactions, and we couldn't have been more satisfied. We were looking for a larger equestrian property, and Ken and Carol introduced us to the La Cresta community. We did not know about the community, and they took the time to give us the "big picture". They showed us several properties, including the pro … perty we ultimately purchased. Ken worked tirelessly with the seller to resolve a number of challenges on the road the closing, and we now have a beautiful equestrian estate! Ken and Carol also represented us in the sale of our smaller horse property in Escondido. Ken was diligent in his market research and listed our house at a price that matched us with a great buyer. The transaction went very smooth and we were quite pleased” Read More ▾
‟We were very happy when California Equestrian Properties accepted us as clients. They came out to our stable to meet us. We did most of our business at our stable. Ken also sent some items through DocuSign (which is a totally easy way to do signings). We truly had a great time with Ken and Carol - they are nice, professional, trustworthy, hard w … orking, and dependable. We still have a relationship with Ken and Carol even though we live in Grass Valley. We call Ken sometimes with real estate questions and he always takes the time to talk with us. Ken learned everything about our large equestrian property, and would come anytime to show it. Carol is a true partner to Ken and worked very hard marketing our property and showing our property if Ken was unavailable. They sold our stable..” Read More ▾
‟Ken Shuttleworth did an exceptional job of representing us as buyers of two properties in the San Marcos/Escondido area. He has an extensive knowledge of all of the equestrian properties in the north county area, showed us many properties that we liked and helped us to select the equestrian property that worked best for us. Ken performed a lot o … f research on the property including its actual zoning and permitted number of horses. He also provided us with extensive information about the facility's current tenants and worked with me to review the tax implications of the various business entities that we could use to purchase the property. On the closing day, Ken worked very closely with us to value the remaining personal property and to purchase sufficient hay because the sellers did not leave us any hay for the evening feeding. We were very thankful that Ken had prepared us for the seller's actions and his foresight made a significant contribution to the success of the purchase. After the purchase, Ken and Carol helped us learn about San Marcos and get through all of the minor problems that beset new stable owners. Ken also was our representative in the purchase of a beautiful house in a quiet and secluded neighborhood just a short distance from the barn and did an excellent job of locating this wonderful house. After considering the great service that we have received from them, we think that Ken and Carol are the best realtors in San Diego County. Sincerely” Read More ▾

‟I have known and have been friends with Ken & Carol Shuttleworth for over 20 years. I have had the good fortune to have Ken & Carol represent me on various occasions in the acquisition of Equestrian Centers Intl./San Marcos in the past years. It was with great pleasure and harmony that we were able to acquire the property on N. Twin Oaks Valley … Road years ago for my sister Denise Cintas to manage.Years went on and I sold the property to Denise Cintas. Once again Ken & carol stepped up to the plate to make this transition a benefit to all parties. The last transaction on our Twin Oaks property was to sell the farm to another equestrian family, and continue our efforts at our main facility in Rancho Mirage. ‟Ken, I want to take a moment to express my deep appreciation for your going above and far beyond the call of duty in both our Murrieta and Acton real estate transactions. Because of the unique circumstances surrounding both the purchase of our horse ranch on the Santa Rosa Plateau and the sale of our 65 acres in the high desert, I didn’t think we w … ould be able to successfully close the escrows. However, thanks to your expertise in the field of equestrian properties and your ability to think outside the box, you made it happen! Happy buyers and sellers abound. Thank you so much for all your help. And we look forward to working with you again on all our future California Real Estate transactions” Read More ▾
